Do the Vedas and Puranas advocate sankirtan of God's names, or is it something that has been propagated by some saints recently? This is an important question. Sankirtan has been in practice since time immemorial. The Vedas contain an elaborate description of it.
Scriptures declare that bhakti is the only means to attain God. However, they also state that in this present age of Kaliyuga it is only through sankirtan that one attains God.
