Sometimes, when we look through the window, we perceive a world full of sorrow, suffering, and melancholy. We may feel that the same is happening to us and our family members too. We notice a long list of bad things happening with us. And, then we wonder, is there someone in the world who possess even one reason to be happy. Actually, we all have a million reasons to be happy. And, fortunately, the only thing we have to do is to embrace what Swami Mukundananda mentions in his book, 7 Mindsets for Success, Happiness and Fulfilment as – The Mindset of positive thinking.

Positive thinking is the best attribute you may wish for your life as this would provide you everything else. A positive mindset is very closely linked to your physical, mental and spiritual growth. There are experiments in medical sciences that prove thoughts we garner in our minds directly affect our health. Positive thoughts help in maintaining a sound mind and a strong body. We all should have experienced the difference in feeling when we are standing beside a cheerful person vs a stressful person. This is because we are affected by not only our but other’s thoughts as well. Everyone likes to be with a person whose expression makes them happy, who is kind and compassionate and has a positive view of the world.

However, we will also have to understand the route leading to a positive mindset.

Bible says:

Philippians 4:8 “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Our saint reminds us that the world is created by God and thus is perfect. God, who himself is the bliss of happiness would never want his children to be unhappy. So, he couldn’t give us any situation to make us miserable. Seemingly bad situations are there to help us improve and grow from both outside and inside. Thus, it is required by every one of us to foster a positive mindset about everything around us.

There are various methods of developing a positive mindset like meeting people with elevated thoughts, doing Satsang (Being in the company of good people), meditation and reading books on positive thinking from authors who have an authority in this area of mind management.

Swami Mukundananda in his book, 7 Mindsets for Success, Happiness and Fulfilment talk precisely about this aspect of being happy. The first chapter of the book illustrates in detail the benefits that you will get from having a positive mindset. And, more importantly, it gives you the specific methods and technique to train your mind to think positively, always. You will thus, discover the key for the box, which contains, as the text says, “a million reasons to be happy”.
