Swamiji reveals, in this Mahashivratri special video, Lord Shiva’s immense love for Shri Krishna through a beautiful story from the Bhagavatam.

Mahashivratri Special Significance

Mahashivratri is one of the most auspicious times of the year to engage in devotion to God. Lord Shiva is one of the greatest devotees of Shri Krishna. Those on the path of spirituality pray to Lord Shiva on this night to destroy the ignorance within, that they may learn to love God selflessly. It is believed that meditating on this night is extremely conducive to rapid spiritual growth.

Mahashivratri Special Shiv – Krishna Leela

Shri Krishna was born in a Mathura jail to Devaki and Vasudev. To protect him from the ferocious Kansa, Vasudev through divine intervention, escaped with the newborn Shri Krishna across the river Yamuna to the palace of Nand, and swapped Shri Krishna with Yashoda’s newborn baby girl who was none other than Yogmaya – God’s divine energy.

Yashoda, had fainted while giving birth and woke to find Shri Krishna beside her. She thought that Shri Krishna was the child she gave birth to and informed the family members. There were great celebrations in Braj welcoming the beautiful son of Nand and Yashoda. The long childless couple’s joy knew no bounds. Nand gave away richly in charity, in celebration of the divine blessing of a son. Unknown to Nand and Yashoda, this son was none other than the Supreme Lord himself playing out a pastime!

However, the residents of Braj were not the only ones overjoyed. Lord Shiva, the greatest Yogi, was so thirsty for a glimpse of the Divine Lord in infant form that he broke his Samadhi and reached the palace of Nand. Standing at the doorstep of the simple Yashoda, with snakes around his neck and scorpions in his ears, he begs her to show him her Lala or little Shri Krishna.

Watch this video to immerse yourself in the devotional bliss of the humorous conversation that follows between them. Will Yashoda relent and fulfill Lord Shiva’s intense desire?
