Denver Diwali Dhamaka 2017

Denver Diwali Dhamaka was held on Saturday, Oct 14th 2017.  It was the most awaited program of the year as more than 600 people attended the event. The day turned out to be very colorful, festive, and joyous. There were smiles on the parents faces as they saw their children participate in various activities on the stage. Ladies enjoyed shopping for jewelry, sarees, and suits from various fashion vendors and many bought Diwali artifacts like rangoli and other home decor.

There were about eight food vendors who brought Indian street food and other delicacies to savor during the festive occasion of Diwali. People loved the chaat varieties and Diwali snacks and even bought some to take home.

The event was a great opportunity for businesses to network with the crowd and highlight their work. Many families were busy capturing the memorable Diwali time with their cameras and also posing in the special decorative photo booth. The magician’s arrival created great excitement. Kids were amazed and awed to see the magic tricks he displayed and kept wanting more.

On the other side, the hall was jampacked with an audience eagerly waiting for the three-hour cultural program of Bollywood songs and dances to commence. Many local dance schools participated in it and the crowd was jubilant. However, the Bal-Mukund kids stole everyone’s hearts with their powerful musical performance of “Ramlila.” It was fun to see the characters come alive. Proud parents of Bal-Mukund children captured some beautiful shots.

The volunteers also organized a wonderful fashion show, “Metallica” by the youth, symbolizing the Power of Women. The audience ended with huge applause asking for more.

Denver Diwali Dhamaka was started four years ago by Nidhi Kothiyal and now has become a signature annual JKYOG event in Denver. The aim of this event has always been to bring performers from all regional associations on a single platform. People eagerly wait to be a part of this mega Diwali mela. All proceeds from this event are used for girls education in India and to provide free healthcare to the underprivileged sections of society. This is one event when the entire Denver community gets together to share, highlight, and enjoy the Indian culture. This event would not have been successful without the support of the local Denver community—sponsors, vendors, businesses, dance schools, children and parents. Last but not the least, the event would not have been possible without the very dedicated and enthusiastic JKYOG volunteers who worked tirelessly under Nidhi Kothiyal’s guidance and Swami Mukundananda’s inspiration.
