5 Tips To Start a Spiritually Fulfilling Day

It is said that out of the many things that successful people do, one of them is that they start their day in the right frame of mind.  They wake up with a positive mind set and do little things that enhance their ability to work better and achieve more. In the life of a spiritual aspirant or sadhak it is equally important to begin the day with an inspired spiritual mindset.  A day started off with a spirit of love and devotion sets forth an inspiring tune for the rest of the day.  Here are simple 5 tips that you can use to start a spiritually fulfilling day:

1.   REMEMBER GOD AND GURU THE MOMENT YOU WAKE UP:

While it is important to remember God every single moment, you must focus on remembering God and Guru the moment you wake up.  Sometimes dreams clutter our mind even when we are asleep. When we wake up the mind does not spontaneously meditate on the Divine.  But by forcing your mind to think of God you send out a message that you will not let the mind control you during the day

2.  TAKE OUT SOME TIME FOR SADHANA:

Morning time is excellent for meditation as the mind is still empty and untouched by worldly influence.  You must take out some time every day to sit alone and meditate on the form of God you like, this is also called Rupdhyan.  Take help of audio keertans or chant along if you wish.  The idea is to bathe the mind and intellect in the Love of God.  Jagadguru Shri Kripaluji Maharaj says that Rupdhyan is a sure short way to get rid of our material vices and to purify the heart.

3. WATCH AN INSPIRING VIDEO OR READ A BOOK

Instead of turning on your television for morning news, it is worth wile to watch an inspiring spiritual lecture.  In fact pick up a spiritual book before you pick up the morning newspaper.  Make use of the golden hours when your mind is fresh and active. Divert its attention to the spiritual realm by reading books like the Bhagavad Gita which enlighten your intellect with transcendental knowledge. Upgrade your mind first thing in the morning, before the material energy degrades it.

4.  TAKE HONEY & LEMON WATER

It is said that the eliminative activity of digestion peaks in the early morning hours.  That is why there is an intense desire to pass stools on waking up in the morning.  A glass of warm water with honey and lemon on getting up in the morning stimulates the gastro colic reflex, thus initiating bowel movement.  Since an unhealthy gut can be a cause of depression, anxiety and stress. It is a good idea to ensure a healthy gut early in the day.

5. DO YOGASANS OR EXERCISE

There are umpteen reasons to exercise in the morning.  It energizes you and elevates your metabolism for the day. Most importantly daily exercising strengthens your ‘vehicle to God’ and keeps it in good shape.  After all if you have a head ache or fever, for certain you can’t think of elevating spiritual thoughts.  So exercise for sometime in the morning and reap the benefits of a healthy body throughout the day.  Swami Mukundanandaji in spite of his busy schedule takes out time for a morning walk every day. During this time devotees join him for a walk and at the same time rejoice in his spiritual association.
